Who are we?
The creation of JTSD started on May 21, 2019 by Dorian Gosse. JTSD is a place to come to read about and listen to Dorians personal journey to becoming a software developer by a series of blog posts and podcasts. These blog posts and podcasts written and produced by Dorian are aimed at giving the audience an intimate personal look at one aspiring developers journey to becoming a software developer.
our goal
We strive to offer valuable insights that will help you in your own journey to becoming a software developer and obtain your software goals. We will discuss the decisions, issues faced, and much more as we follow Dorians personal journey to becoming a software developer. The objective of these posts is to bring you a more in depth look at a single journey of an aspiring developer than anyone else, so you can truly see the little things that come with a journey such as software development
Another goal of ours is to be active in the community. We want all those interested in becoming a developer, people just starting their journey or farther along their path, and any others interested in the topic to have an engaging, welcoming, and enjoyable community that you can reach out to.
With that being said, feel more than welcome to email myself personally at Dorian@JourneyToSoftwareDevelopment.com with any questions, feedback, or if you just want to say hi. See the contact page for more contact options.
The reason for jtsd
Why, you might ask, did I decide to create JTSD? Well the answer is simple. After going through some of my own life events I decided I would learn how to become a software developer. I listened to inspiring stories of people that have taken the same path that I decided to take. I loved the idea behind blog posts and podcasting. I loved the sense of membership to a community of people facing similar struggles with their career change and the sense of belonging. Hearing these stories inspired me to continue learning and bettering myself not only to become a better developer, but to be a better person. However, after all my reading of blogs and listening to podcasts and hearing these stories. I never felt that anything went to personal. I never really got a step by step view into the life of someone else as they started their journey to the end.
Along with that, I loved to help people, writing, and a new found love for tech. I thought that by bringing my in depth journey to becoming a software developer I might answer some of the in-the-weeds questions that I had, for someone else. Long story short, I wanted to offer my experience to anyone who takes the time to read or listen to the story I have to tell. If one of the people that come across this website finds value and answers to questions they might have, I will have accomplished the ultimate goal of this site.
